As I reread After I was reminded by the power behind Chalifour's words. The part where Francis finds out about his father's death is quite striking. He describes the news as something that is screaming loudly around his world. The reader can almost "hear"the news themselves.
Francis then says that when he recounts the events of the last year, he is not telling what happened to him, but instead, what he felt.

Hello Denise,

After was an emotional read. Francis's grief was almost overwhelming at times and I longed for a glimmer of hope. I applaud the author for presenting this autobiographical story. It must have been heart-wrenching writing experience.
